How to Fill the Title and Meta Description

The title and meta description are the texts search engines often use as the headline and summary. In a Clincoo project they belong in the head of every HTML file, not only the homepage.

Separate title and h1

The title tag shown on the browser tab can differ slightly from the h1. Keep the title near 50–60 characters, with the page name then the brand. Two pages with the same title are confusing when tabs sit side by side.

Write a description that matches the page

A single meta name="description" of about 150 characters should say what the visitor gets. Do not copy the homepage description onto the contact page. The preview at editor.clincoo.buzz does not show the Google snippet, so use View Source to confirm the tag is in head.

One title per page

Do not put two title tags. The second is ignored or overrides the first depending on the parser. After deploy from app.clincoo.buzz, open the public URL and confirm the tab title changed and is no longer the template.

Social images use separate og:title and og:description tags. If they are empty, copy the same title and description first so shares are not blank.
